Strategies for Managing Endowment Funds: Case Studies of Selected Malaysian Public Universities

The Malaysian government has strongly encouraged Malaysia’s public universities to seek additional sources of income assure the sustainability their finances. Endowment is one by for implementation these universities. This encouragement received a positive response from universities: all them have now implemented endowment funds. However, strategies used institutions in managing funds are still poorly documented. Therefore, this study was conducted explore such It qualitative interviewing six representatives selected Universiti Malaya (UM), Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Teknologi (UTM). These were because they recorded highest collection found that include diversified investment portfolios, appointment experts, Shariah-compliant investments as an alternative, sources.
